Have you ever felt part of your body itchy all the time? Keep scratching and
scratching until you see in the mirror that it turned red and scary. What is that? It’s
commonly recognized as dermatitis, specifically named eczema. This skin
inflammation problem appears with signs of dry and itchy skin and worsens if
treatment is absent. This is a common condition for every age group and is not
contagious. Various reasons can cause eczema, but there are also various solutions to
treat them.
If you or people around you did get eczema and were constantly annoyed by
it, there are multiple ways you can try and find out the best one.
Moisturizing cream
Prescription topical medication (Such as Eucerin Eczema Relief Flare-up
Treatment)
Light therapy (Treatment using manmade UV light waves to cure certain skin)
Immunosuppressant (Medicine that suppresses the immune system to
function)
Injectable biologics (Subcutaneous injection that avoids further inflammation)
o Ex. Dupixent, Tralokinumab
Despite these common solutions for eczema, some special ways are also worth a
try. These methods often involve natural and environmental elements, such as bleach
baths, acupuncture, meditation, medical-grade honey, and cryotherapy. No matter
which method you use, there will always be one that can efficiently solve your
problem.
But what if they recurred? Although there are numerous ways to cure them, the
existence of eczema is still very bothering. Can we keep them away from us? The
answer is yes, once you are familiar with the causes and are more careful in daily life.
There are four categories of causes:
1. Overactive immune system: This is when the immune system incorrectly
detects bacteria and activates the skin barrier to avoid further attack.
However, since it’s incorrect, the skin barrier will block away their key
resources and cause them to become dry and itchy.
2. Genetics: A protein named filaggrin in the human body helps maintain the
necessary moisture in the skin. People who have filaggrin deficiency will
have a higher chance of dry skin.
3. Environment: Environmental factors are usually inappropriate ingredients
contained in soap, shampoos, laundry detergents, and other products that will
directly influence your skin condition.
4. Stress: Sometimes, mental health can also cause physical damage to the body.
In this case, having too much stress will disrupt normal body functions thus
resulting the eczema.
Lastly, the skin is the largest organ in the human body, and it also requires
intensive care to stay healthy. So please remember to put on products like sunscreen
and moisture cream when needed to protect them!
